Scott are we talking about the issues on the 357 and 359 carbs?   If so thanks for offering this up to the members.

yes 357/359
poor idle is the most common
i test them on my woods ports saw

So am I missing something here? What is so special about this carb ? Would it be like those pain the butt Zama C1-Q models with the accellerater pumps they put on Stihl 200T's and caused fits all around the globe perhaps ?

It's over my pay grade Al. Looking at IPL it looks like a acc pump in there.

Yeah found it plus it looks like it has a governer .That kinda sucks .

Well I wondered because if I'm not mistaken I rebuilt one on a little J-Red once .Evidently then it's like the Zamas' using the same model designation but a different specific application or modification there of .Oh why do they do that -----because they can  :D

the acc pump is not the problem
it does not have a governer in it
the hda's perform better then the zama's, more so on a ported saw
the high speed nozzle goes bad in the zama's, and you can't buy a new on. you have to replace the carb. a real pitta if you drilled and bored it for a race saw.

I bought my 357 before knowing that the carb had an accelerator pump. Mine is a 2008 with the Walbro.

It was initially set too lean on the idle and when cold, would start to die out at idle. You could wiggle the trigger and it would pick up and go just like an old car before fuel injection. So I quickly decided it had an accelerator pump.This was particularly bad just up off idle. To tune the low speed without touching the throttle seemed to get away from this?

I do seem to need to check the high speed tuning before using if the season has changed since I last used it. Significant ambient air temperature changes seem to affect the high speed mixture. The stock engine is rather highly tuned and will four stroke at 14500 so I use a tachometer on this one to keep it calmed down when going into warmer weather from cold. 

My 357 seems to run just fine now but I've been suspicious of the carb since owning it from reading all the stuff on the Internet. Other than what's mentioned above, I cannot see any problem with it.
