That's the one I'd be leaning towards too.

I still have not got one. Got side tracked the other day when I was looking at them. Got reading about what cleaning/chemicals people are using.

Since you guys are on the subject of Ultrasonic cleaners, what's a good temperature to run them at for a carburetor?

Good question I have never used the heat.   I may pour some warm water in before using but that is about it.

Are you saying that ultra-sonic cleaners in general will damage the check valves in Zama carbs?
If so, I would have to see the data and what the conditions were for testing.   Ultra-sonic is pretty much nondestructive.

Just some info gleaned from a
tech with tons of years on the other forum
ultrasonic was great for cleaning but with
the zama check valves debris lodged into
the small passages and got stuck,
rendering the valve useless

I hear what you're saying but I do not buy it.   I think I will keep using my ultrasonic.
It could be the Zama check valves themselves are not holding up.

exactly, the ultrasonic is great, for cleaning ,except for the zama
check valves. I,ve never liked those carbs myself but on 036,s
and early 044s there were no alternatives

I do have two 036's myself and was surprised that Stihl used these carbs.   I guess it is all about saving money.
