Poulan 5400 pho weight

Poulan 505 pho weight

Poulan 5400 85cc, Poulan 505 83cc. I never compared the 8500 when I had it on hand last year for size and weight. I just knew it was heavier then I like now days. So this time after getting 5400 ready to ship I did the same to the 505. Drained of fluids and aired off under covers etc. Both bar plates inner outer and clutch covers with both bar nuts for PHO weights.
.2 = 3.2ounces and .8 = 12.8ounces

I noticed me and Rogers PP505 weights posted here are within 2.8ounces of each other. = Good enough for me.

Those numbers don't surprise me.  The 5400 is built like a tank.......while the 505 is a bit fragile.  There's no free lunch...

I never realized they were so dang heavy.  Great in the cuts though.

I have sold any saw that has been 16.5lbs and up PHO. I just cant take the weight.  Being these are in the 18lb range its a no brainer for me.

Heck I almost dropped it just lifting 5400 to the bench. = I got a freaking pinched nerve on the left side and half my dang hand stays numb now.  Somewhere in left neck, to left shoulder, to elbow then hand.

I'll stick to the fragile  :D 83cc   . Even kept it over the 385 being they cut about the same in cut and 505 saved me the weight.

I have yet to fubbar a tank like some ham fisted folks do. I know their weakness areas.   :P

This is a Poulan 475 which has a full wrap handle and double bucking spikes.

Very cool to see that weight Roger.  These old post coming in handy.  The 505 with full wrap and big dawg set will put me right at my wanted weight limit.

When it comes to the weakness on the 505 my only complaint is the clutch cover.    I still have the one I am using for milling and no issues with it at all.

To me and what I see on the saws that come in is from folks yanking on the rear handle and breaking the upper right av and upper left av. Then they break the plastic part that the handle runs down through from that.  I'll show a pic.

Yep on the plastic clutch cover too, but you have one them good metal ones now. ;)

I'm down to 2 metal ones from 4. Sold a red nos and yellow nos.  Figured I can only use 1 at a time and run a plastic on a back up saw if same series with me.
