Getting closer. Here is the hold up on my end that has priority right now.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/rec-room/old-garage-down/new/#new

Most of you all understand why I am going to test the 357 and that 7T to the pp365 and 8T right?

I had a pm saying that is apple and oranges and whats it going to prove.  Different saws different gears with same chain.

IMO If the pp365 pulls the chain better with the 8T I was going to let folks decide if we should use the pp365 for testing with the 8T. Instead of the 357 with 7T.

I was figuring the 357 with 8T would have out cut the pp365 with 8T. But with 7T on the 357 it will be giving up chain speed in the pine cants IMO.

See what I am thinking now?

So I will test and see. If the 7T on the 357 cuts better and faster then the pp365 with 8T. Then 357 with 7 it is being it is such a PITA to change chains with a 8T on it.

Go for it Kevin.   Which ever one works best we will use.

That sounds like a good idea to me. If you can get the 8 on the Poulan to run faster than the 357 I'd say that's the one to use.

I ran them today.  Ran the 357 first then pp 365 2nd.

The 357 with 7 was 1 sec faster each cut in the 2 fastest cuts of 4. So 357 7 it is.

I could feel the difference in the cuts easily.

Also right before the pp365 test cuts while warming engine the dang chain came off. I checked chain and there was 2 noticeable dubbed corners.  Might had a little to do with chain but I could still feel a difference in the motors and the way they pulled.

Bluegill confirmed my findings on this for me today. Weird you can do a 8T 325 in stock chain lengths on the 346 but not the 357 359 saws.

Just tried 8T .325 16" Sugi bar, 66 DL Oregon chain on a 359/357. No go, too tight. Looks like a 68 DL chain would be just right, but I don't have one in .325.

Got all the wood burned last night. So testing the chains is the next thing on my list.

As soon as I recoup and get a nice day to spend all day with the chains uninterrupted. I will geter done.

I remember that crap when I lived in MT into the first week of June.

You just keep it. ;)

Right now no rain but standing water from the storm that came through last night, this morning.

I went out and went ahead and put a running order together and wrote them down to save me a little time.

Going to run the 4 stock chains. ( touched up the K1L 2 cutters ever so lightly that got dinged on the throw by pp365 testing warm up  ).
Then run my 4 work chains.
Then the 3 race chains. As I should have a feel for the saw and be in a running groove by then. I really want to see what those race chains have to offer  :o. They be looking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.  ;D
Then 4 more work chains in sq.

Will make 3 cuts. Remember on the timing the 2 fastest cuts only for time. The slowest is thrown out of the 3.

If I see I have hit a knot by mistake or cut out I will make a 4th or even 5th cut if needed. But only the 2 fasted are kept for times.
