I'm not even close to filing anything yet.  Hopefully work in a 30min file job on each new work chain later on. Will just be a last min file hack job again, so dont expect much from me. It will be hit or miss and untested.

Been out of town on a shooting, fishing vacation.  ;D

Chris will miss checking out your chain to see if you get that forward slant right on both side.  Just keep trying and dont over think it.
I am clueless to square filing and all the technical talk, but I know what I want to see , but cant get it right 99% of the time.

March 19th is a ways off......................... ;)  Wont be tested for a bit after that. Sooooooo just maybe..........

Ok, I got a work chain finished.  I used an Oregon LPX converted to square.  I managed to grab one of the chisel file Granberg G-107 jigs from ebay about a year ago, so that is what I used to do the conversion.  I tried to get a usable picture of one of the teeth, but didn't have much luck.

The part I like a little bit is the proportional raker gauge I made using a 3-D printer.  It places the raker height on a 6.5 degree slope down from the working corner point of the top plate.  Reading this thread, a lot of people run their square rakers fairly high, so this might not be the correct number for this chain.  This is exactly the second square chain I have made, so it's not like I really know what I'm doing....

Anyway, most of the time I use Oregon 21BPX or Carlton semichisel to clear brush around my property.  The 6.5 degree raker gauge works well for that application.

Neat raker gauge. The chain looks good. It should do well.

Not sure what I'll have time for now either.  Work has me on two weeks of travel between now and the 19th.  Hopefully I can get something done next week in time to solidly lock up last place.

Worked on the chain some today.   I have it broke down to 66dl now and started on the modifications.   This will take a little longer than that little 12" picco chain.   Hope to try some different things on this chain.   We will see how it goes.

Do we need to move the send in by date back a couple weeks or a  month?   I'm all for it if it will help you folks tight with time.

I would not mind that Kevin.   I wanted to do two race chains.  One a Oregon and one the Stihl.   I was curious to see how they compared to each other.

I think a couple of weeks would be fine.

4 weeks back would be April 16

2 weeks back would be April 2

3 weeks back would be April 9

Just tell me how much time you all need.

This is for fun and learning and is more fun the more of us that can do it. IMO

I could use extra time. I don't know if I'll be home until the deadline.

Does not matter to me so anyone else pick a date and that will work for me.
