.404 "high tooth" chisel chain
« on: March 24, 2013, 07:06:35 pm »
I've been away from competiting in timbersports for some time now ,so I'm not up on the latest advancements in the sport lately.

Can anyone post a few pics and give a little information on this "high top .404 chisel sawchain?

I have about 30 feet left on the roll of some old Oregon 50AL .404-.050 chisel bit chain, I'm thinking about converting my bikesaw over to this chain, but I'm wandering what this "high tooth " .404 sawchain is all about.

Simon Bertrand sales it. He is here too.

I know of Ed Heard EHP and Dennis Cahoon DC trying the high tooth.

So maybe one of those guys can show a pic or tell you more.

From reading rakers are pretty darn low already even when you start taking the tooth back.

Racing bikesaws with the 1/2" getting harder to find.

Does anyone own or have information on the Stihl .404 high tooth timbersport chain?
My question is did Stihl design it with the "Comfort" clearance or left it out and keep it old school for better speed performance ?

Did you try a search for the high tooth here. I remember Bertrand was selling it and he is a member here.

Quick search. Ed EHP filed some high tooth 404. Might ask him too.

.404 high tooth = 46RST  46 RST

Per Romeo guy that raced bikesaws I knew of.

It's chain that Stihl developed for their hotsaws. The problem is that the only way to get it was to buy a Stihl hotsaw. But some other guys have been comeing up with it. I have only seen a picture of it. It is .404 chain but the cutters are tall like 1/2 inch chain. It alegedly is supposed to cut like 1/2 inch chain (fast). I would love to get ahold of a roll or at least a loop of this stuff.
