Think I found something on it.

I don't read Chinese (or patent language), but the drawings (more after page 34 in second patent document listed) are helpful.  There are clearly some similar concepts, but these show a flat sharpening platten / surface, versus a round one, and a gear driven grinding head, versus a gravity fed one.

This patent may have been a precursor in the development?  But compare those drawings to the cut away photos and IPLs in the Temco thread.
