Most of the time my chain activies are along the lines of either repairing a damaged cutter or cutting a chain down to a 16" loop for a race chain .
I did however early this fall go through about 20 or so damaged loops and repaired or linked a few together to make longer loops .I have a spinner but no punch and in addition a set of concave punchs that work fairly well for small chain such as .325 or 3/8" low profile as the spinner doesn't have the proper sized anvil for those sizes .Kind of silly because the proper anvil is only about 5 bucks it's just I never seem to find the time or forget to order one .
A good bit of those loops come from a tree service company I'm closely associated with .In that business it's almost unavoidable they will damage chains .The guy who owns the biz just views it as the cost of doing business and 90 percent of them are Stihl branded chains which as we all know are not cheap .
