also, i don't much care for this adjustable anvil, are there better options?

yes sir, i think i will try that style. i'm gonna keep my eye open for an older heavier breaker as well, i'm not to impressed with this one.

i got the madsen's breaker. there is one on the bay, older unit that has a differnt anvil. looks like a vice.
im just a poor logger lol. but i don't want any more china made.

I grind the rivets off, then use a center punch and put it between the straps. Place on top of vise, drivers down,  and give a nice few smacks. First smack should outline the rivet, next smack or two will push away the ground down strap or launch it.

looks like that is the way once again.

drill bit is evidently not very hard on the shank end. or i annealed it grinding, bent three in a row, that don't work. a 7/16 bolt with threads ground off fits the breaker.
i could spend all day trying this, gladly would purchase a good punch and be done with this.

so, i found some roller bearings from a clark planetary.......300 of them lol. thats the way to go, way tougher than any thing else i tried. i did get a couple breaks finely. this anvil is the next bad link, i'll have to find some thing else.
