Setting on stand today I was thinking about username  bushweasel and loaning him my partner 5000 on pipe to take to SC. He got 2nd with that saw in 3ci pipe class.

I loaned my 4ci 5ci 6ci open gas saws out being I wasnt going to SC for over the wood racing. They took 1st in all classes in SC.  plaques hanging at the shop of the person I loaned my saws to.

Any how what this was about was Jason's chain. I wasnt giving him my 3ci chains. he had his own and that chain was so hungry I couldnt make a good pass with it. It was self feeding and just sucked itself through the wood.

If there is enough wood I am thinking should try 3 cuts and throw out the slowest cut and just keep the fastest 2. That way the 1st cut can get a feel for the chain or if I try and push a chain to far later thinking it could do it and it didnt. Sound good?

We going by the average of the 2 cuts to call the fastest in each class like we done before right? Not just a fastest 1 time.

I agree, if the cutter ain't good for the saw the extra work don't help.

3 cut is a great idea, so u get a feel and those pine knots can kill a time.

I dont plan on hitting a knot or cutting close to them. But if you like I could make sure yours is right in the middle of them to give us all a handicap type deal. ;)

When I get to knots they will be removed to next clean section.

So 3 cuts, and average the top 2? Sounds good to me.

I got deer to process when I get back, 2 doe so far.  I might never get a chain filed.   :-X  :P Me and the wife do all our own processing right down to the grinding etc.

Man you ought to see what a 265gr FTX does. I about crapped when I seen the bullet hit the shoulder area.  :o :o :o

My brother the gun dealer that does the big guns ( like 50BMG etc) looked at it and was like WTH that aint right.  ::)

265 gr bullet.   Shoot your average 30-06 round is 150.   My 25-06 is around 130 gr.
I bet that shoulder area is obliterated.
