LOL it was just to show what the 444 marlin 265 ftx did on entry hitting shoulder. What I seen through scope was unreal on this poor doe.
She was one we called the single doe. She had no little ones with her and figure unbred, sterile or something from prior season.

Right where I shot her was the path straight down to the ravine between the 2 hills. Yep right at the bottom she went and either had to drag her up a steep steep hill or drag her to the opening at the end of the 2 hills.  I went with dragging between the hills.  Had to move small trees along the way that had fallen across. She made it real fun.  :-X :-\ :'(

Even had a 4x4 atv with winch and it was no go till I got her to the opening.

IF I had to do it again I would have neck shot her.  Did that once to a buck 90yds with 50cal ML. Drops like a sack of potatoes.
I just dont know this 444 that well yet to know what shots I can make with it. I know my 50cal ML I could do such.

Gnarly!!! Not easy on meat, but certainly no chasing wounded animals.  Use a 45-70 for hogs out here, slow, heavy bullet does the trick!!!

If I was ready to handload this stuff I would have went with 45-70 when I bought this 444 marlin.
Now I see we can use 450 marlin and 500S&W.

This ammo here is why I went for 444 out of the box  http://www.hornady.com/store/444-Marlin-265-gr-FTX-LEVERevolution/

Muzzle    100    200    300

I reload for the 45-70 Marlin guide gun.    350 gr bullet at 1950 FPS muzzle velocity.  I also have a Browning high wall in 45-70.   Can load that one alittle hotter if desired.
PP 505, 475, 445.
