STIHL Topic Chain
« on: May 09, 2014, 05:04:34 pm »
Recently 'adopted' a loop of STIHL chain marked '3/8T' on the cutters, 'T' on the tie straps, and 'T3" on the drive links,  SawTroll says its 'Topic' chain.

Looks like lower profile cutters on a full-sized 3/8" chassis with full 3/8" drive links.  Looks like it fits a full-sized 3/8" sprocket.

Anyone have experience with these, or info to add/correct?

Photo, attached, shows the loop next to a STIHL Picco chain.  Note the differences (aside from the low-kickback bumper tie-strap on the Picco).

I had some 33TS   Here is a thread with it in there with pics. It is like the Oregon 76LG http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/chain/oregon-72lg-and-76lg/msg23952/#msg23952

Run it on your full 3/8 bars and rims.

New loops  ;)

So these were a step along the evolution of current, low profile chains?

The creation of a new 'pitch' (different sprockets, etc.) is a drag, but there must have been some economic or power advantage to the smaller chassis.
