The European seem to go for shorter bars 13, 15, 17 inch.  It may be that they are metric?

Not really, as those lengths look pretty "uneven" in metric, being 33, 38 and 43cm in theory.

The most common bar lengths here is 13" and 15" in .325, and 15, 18 and 20" in 3/8". 16" is uncommon, but my favorite on 50 - 60cc saws.

18" called bars in .325 (72dl) really are 17" bars, as are 64dl 3/8" ones, but that isn't a European specialty.

Also as usual, 3/8" lo-pro/picco bars are an inch or more (mostly more) shorter than called, as are Stihl .325 3005/A074 bars.

Mainly the options are the same as in the US, except for the 15" vs. 16" thing, where I prefer the US "line" (16", not 15").
