One of the bars is an old 20 inch hard nose that has a half moon notch on each side of the bar.  I think it would have been used for chain tensioning.  Any idea what saw used that style?

May have figured it out.  I have a super 44 that was dads and a couple of the bars with that saw have the same feature.

I have mounted one of the Halverson bars on a Mac 10 10 and run 4 tanks of gas thru the saw so far.  A few problems so far, the bar gauge is .080 so the closest thing I can find is a .063 gauge. It's OK but could be better if it fit right.  The other problem is the oil hole getting plugged with wood chips. And last unless the gap at the tip is very small the nose will compress a little and alow the chain to jump off the bar.  Except for that it works fine. LOL  Is there such a thing as 3/8 pitch .08 gauge saw chain?

I missed it earlier but that half round deal on the side of the bar was one method McCulloch used .Fact my super 44A original had one which  now the tightener is in a tool box at my shop .

That thing orginally had a 32" on it which is now on a 650 gear drive and it has a 24" open roller that was originally on a 250 and the 250 has a NOS 18" in .050 with a chunk of 3/8 chisel chain .Musical bars not to be confused with musical chairs .Ha I'm not  sure the 250 will even start it's been so long .
