The way I seen these stock chains in the cut.

K1L felt slow and rough through cuts. Vibrations.

33LG felt smooth through the cuts and faster then Carlton.

RS felt faster again but more vibrations felt in the cut = rough.

LPX felt smooth through the cuts. Cut better then I thought it would stock with the gullets the way they are from the factory. Felt like it cut with or close to RS.

No real surprises there, except I would have expected the LPX to be a tad faster than the RS, as well as smoother.

21LP was a tad faster than 25RSC in my comparisons some years ago, with a 346NE and a 5100S (both minus spark screen, but otherwise stock).

According to my timing the LPX and the RS were very close.

Just had to share as it made me feel good to hear.

The 325 chain build off work chains  I did. One of my regular firewood cutters ended up with them because he runs 16" 325 on his 353 as he wants light weight set up.
Yesterday he was in getting saws looked at and he said I dont know what you did to those chains but I want you to keep doing it.

This is a old thread and I like Stihl RS .325 chain. If I could get it at a good price I would use it But .325 chain doesn't last too long and I can't tell if it's any better than LPX chain. You never know when you're going to hit something like a rock and mess up a new chain so I use the less expensive LPX loops. I run 72 DL LPX on my 357xp with a 8T sprocket and can cut up a 20" oak for fire wood with out the chain getting dull.

Guy I been setting up with stihl RS 325 063 74dl  for a 271 in past.
I talked to him about trying  22LPX to compare and see how he likes it.  So today he took home a new loop.
See if his feedback is like mine.

Think he said he had a dead ash to drop.

Billyram, no need to run .325 on a 357XP. You got all the power you need to run 72LPX. But try a 7 tooth rim sprocket on that 357 in oak or whatever you cut and you'll thank me.

.325 23RS I run on my 562 XP-18" and it's perfect for that saw.

It was surely not my chain.  Tell him my apologies.  Shoot that was good fun.  Maybe again this winter?

Was you in the 325 chain build off?  I remember you in the 3/8 low profile picco chain build off.

I'm done with all this type stuff chain build offs etc.  Anything to do with racing etc. Just watching now days.

I always said when it is no longer fun for me I'll walk away. The chain build offs was the last thing to walk away from.

think you got that right, picco.  only thing that chain would be good for is maybe tire chains.  fun is what it is.  always something else out there. if going to watch something fun, lately been into watching in car camera rally racing.
