Hello I just purchased a used 308 missing the motor, pully and fwd/rev switch has anyone  had to replace  or found a direct replacement motor for this grinder? If any one has an operational grinder some information from  your machine would be appreciated. It would be great to know the  the dia. of the motor housing, shaft size and length and distance from plate to the center of the shaft. The tech support guy at Foley said they stopped buying the motor from the supplier because the specs. of  the motor changed and it didn't fit the frame anymore. A photo of the nameplate would also be helpful in my search. I called belsaw and they no longer stock a replacement. Also if anyone has a manual with an exploded view of the grinder parts they could scan? Any answers  on  any of these questions would be appreciated in my attempting to make this operational again. I know Foley sells a copy of this manual but if I am unable to locate a replacement motor I dont want to throw another $20 plus shipping down the drain. Cut for Fun what are you asking for the grinder you mentioned sitting on the shelf?

The motor on this Sears grinder is much smaller than the motor that comes on a Foley-Belsaw 308 grinder.

Though the grinder layout is much like a 308, the Sears is a smaller home owner grinder

I'll trade it for something  or if nothing I want to trade for PP gift plus shipping.

PM with your ideas on trades etc.  Parts are parts to me.

I can get some pics and check motor by plugging in since it has been just setting for a few years now.

I used to see these 308 motors on Ebay all the time.  Just looked nothing.  I would just keep checking Ebay it will probably best bet for a motor.  Had another thought try Grainger they have motors for just about everything.  I'll get the numbers off my motor if the tag is still on it.

Plugged it in turned on switch and it works.

Dont know how long its been since  any of the grease fittings had been done. Seems to me a few of them even on the motor I think I noticed.

The motor on this grinder appears to not be a capacitor motor like the model 308. I doubt that means much as far as this Sears grinder is concerned. It is just that the motors are different.

Foley Belsaw 550 Chain Sharpener

I think this is the Same as the Sears Chain Sharpener made by Belsaw but all I have is a picture on a instruction manual
