Thanks for fixing the links!  The gains seen in the vids can be made by anybody. No thinning, no special grinders, just three files and a few hours.

TF, I found some old info I saved. Is this the correct info for these chains in videos above? Year 2009

I did some playing with some different chains, comparing cut times. I used my 372, stock. All cuts were in the same block. All 60dl chains. First is Oregon 72LGX (round chisel) I timed it at 8.1 seconds.

Next is Oregon 72CL Square chisel. I timed this at 6.8 seconds.

Next is Oregon 72CL that has had some work done to it, I timed this at 5.5 seconds.....

TF = The square chisel is gaining about 16% over the round, and the worked over chain is gaining about 20% over the stock square, so 36% gained over new round chisel. That is more than most can get out if a woods port. I think many people neglect chain when looking for speed out of a saw, when heading for a GTG, or any kind of competition.

Man of Stihl, I haven't done anything with saws or chains in a year or so. I been playing guitar and singing in a garage band, I guess I ain't ready to grow up yet ::) Kevin, I'll look up those vids.
Whatever makes you happy man. You only live once! ;)

If I had done it already I would have videos of it somewhere. I have a brand new 24" loop of rslk at home just no cl in that size to make it fair. If you find it I won't have to do it to satisfy myself.

I bet they might be on my DVD of chain testing. But you got to remember I did this a few years in a row.  So dont know if I got both years on DVD.

Give me a few days to go through files and DVD.
