Thanks for posting that video Neil ! That was awesome, keep them coming if you have more.
One day I have to make the big trip to Australia and surrounding territories. I have a brother inlaw who lives in Perth and I would like to visit Ron Hartill at his second home in N.Z.
Making a living with a saw since age 16.

Glad to be able to add something worth viewing, I added the 1st bit (Geoff introducing them) as it showed the Gary / Kent racing team together.
I do have more and will cut out more, they are on VCR.

Neil, you may very well have the correct info on the Iron Horse. Like I said myself being away from the sport for over 20 yrs a lot has happened in that time.
Gary Walrath and Steve Ingalls (another Oregon engineer) built the first hotsaw called the Pope. Kent Huntington who was another Oregon engineer may very well have been involved. Kent has helped invent different product for Oregon such as the bar with the built in chain tensioner, Vanguard chain, Oregon lite aluminum insert bars, sevral bench grinders etc.
Tom Monaghan I believe was involed with Oregon's ICS concrete chain division.
I've  heard of Dave Stadler a competitor here in North America and Australia / N.Z.

My apologies, yes I checked back through my race diaries from the 90's, it was David and not John Stadler, too long ago now and I'm forgetting stuff.
He built a few hot saws for out here, anyway I cut off a piece from a vid. Sorry about the quality but its the best I could do. I found some footage but will take time to cut out.

To cool. Love seeing the older stuff.   Quality was great IMO.

Thanks for sharing.

I think the Helsels got some old 60's or so racing  from up in MI possibly saved somewhere ( Cliff and Rick's dad or grandpa etc).  Just chainsaw cased stuff. I remember seeing it in the past. Finding it now might be rough.

Here is some more footage guys. I believe this run by Garry Walrath is his record run at Cooma NSW Australia, competing against Holis Vaukman (not spelled right), both saws are 500's.

Great video.  Those saws are really something to watch.

thanks, they are something to watch for sure, the vids do not do them any justice, being close to them is much better.
