Cut4fun showed me a trick with the ATOP that makes sharpening go a little better and consistent. And that is when you get the chain positioned against the stop and before you file any, Take your scrench and stick it between the chain and the bar on the bottom side of the bar. This tightens up the chain so the cutter doesn't tilt backwards on you when you run the file past the cutter.

Something is making the chain or the file move around.
You should be able to see a clear corner like pictured in Kevins and my posts.
I thought they may have provided an incorrect file, but your pictures show the right one.

I dont use any guide, but I second 660's suggestion, try to keep the chain steady.
Keeping the chain rock steady and the file lazer straight as it moves forward is imperative to a good square cutter

I tried those files and never tried the atop. The files work ok but I felt ripped off only having 2 corners instead of 4.

Yeah but your a 6 sided pro and I was just a hack.  I liked them with the guide.

Now the guy north of me up in Sandusky could turn out some faster atop chains using 6 sided file and atop guide.
