Chainsaw Repair

This is a comparison I did with oregon chain 72 full comp square chisel, full comp semi chisel, full skip square chisel. 

This was done a few years back using 23" spruce. Biggest I had on hand.

1. semi chisel
2. full comp rakers out of box height
3. rakers taken down some

Same chain as 2nd video with rakers taken down. Hit a big knot at bottom of cut  so it through the timing off.

In clean wood and a sharp chain are the biggest factors in a chains performance.  I have gotten away from alwyas using lp or lpx and find myself using bpx much more, as my cutting conditions have changed and the wood is not as clean.

My Husky dealer sells rebadged Oregon chain as Husky chain. A while back while running my 346XP with the .325 chisel chain I tried a loop of .325 semi chisel chain. I was amazed with this semi chain , seemed to cut better then the chisel in small wood. Nice aggressive feed right out of the box and holds a good edge.

Upon further inspection I realized it was the narrow kerf .325 semi chisel .

Always amazed at how fast my well used loops of the ole oregon 34 (not 34SL just plain old 34) are. Starting to really enjoy the benefits of semi chiesel.
