No clue never bought a loop.  I havent bought any PS either. Just price checking for when I run out of PS3

I think Al bought a loop of PS3 from a dealer before.

Whats a 55 link loop cost? We will sell them for $16.00, same as PS3.

I paid $19.00 for a 56 link loop at my dealer for the PS3.
I thought it was a bit pricey but it is GREAT chain.

It was last summer sometime I bought both a loop of semi and a loop of Stihl chisel 52 drivers .It seems to me the chisel was about a dollar more  a loop .Around 18-19 bucks I think .

A little pricey but Stihl branded chain will last longer simpley because it's harder steel .I priced it in Oregon or at least the semi style and it was only a few dollars more than Baileys . Really 3/8" LP lasts me a long time .

Now I did in fact take the loop I got from Kevin and refiled it square ,full race chain .Dovetailed cutters ,dog boned chain ,polished rivets .Sure it cut faster but if not for the fact of playing saw racer with a mini saw it would be a terrible waste of time for a work chain .Now let me tell you square filing a chain that small is a beech .

Something like a  trim saw you are not normally in the dirt with so sharp filed round chisel would hold the edge probabley as well as semi .

I just sharpened 2 loops of oregon 91 safety chain with those long bumpers like a dorsal fin for a guy.  When he picked up the chains I had a loop of stihl PS3 in 56dl for him to run on his 36cc poulan.

He was all smiles and bought that loop too.

He stated that PS3 chain was like comparing night and day to that other chain.

Got my loops of the stihl PS  63PS in yesterday.  Dont see how it can cut any better then the PS3 in the bucking cuts, maybe better in the bore cuts.

Jack says the weight from the small ramps on the PS3 dont even add that much weight. Unlike some other makers chains out there.

The weight of the bumperless Stihl 3/8' lp chain is one tenth of a gram less than the bumper edition, in a 52 dl chain.

The new Stihl chain on the Husky 338xpt.
The same chain is on the scale, weighing in at 169 grams for a 52dl's

The Stihl bumper style chain on the Jonsered 2139.
The same chain is on the scale, weighing in at 180 grams for a 52dl's

I tested the 63PS on a 200 the other day.
Just for the hell of it I got out a 91VXL and ran that too.
Same saw, bar and log. Both chains brand spanking new!
I can't say there was much difference at all in speed, perhaps if you look at 100's of seconds, but to me that is not important.
The PS Vibrated more, that is about all difference I could find.

Oregon 91 safety  10.96 and 10.90

Oregon 91 full skip  spun when hit wood 11.09 and 10.65

Carlton N1   9.28 and 9.06

Stihl 63PS3   7.31  and 7.56

Windsor 50R   10.34  and 9.93

Oregon VXL   10.03 and 9.41

VXL not even close here 2 to 2.75 seconds difference in 1 cut in 8"x8" or like 9" round. N1 carlton was the closest. Guys I make the loops of PS3 state it is like cutting butter compared to their other chains they use.

I'm sold on it.

I ran it in half dry spruce with 260mm diameter.
A buddy of mine ran both too and times of the 6 cuts each we made are super close.

There was no big difference in our times. At the most 0.5se either way.
You had more than 2,7 sek difference. That is a substantial difference...

Yes, I was the one running the saws for Magnus, We tested Stihl 63PM, Stihl 63PS and Oregon 91VXL, 63PM was the slowest cutter of them about four seconds slower.
The difference between 63PS and 91VXL is almost impossible to tell, and yes we have films to back up what we are saying. The 91VXL is a smoother cutter with less vibrations.
