I'm not sure what all was in the group I ran.

There was 3 different new or like new .325's and the PS outran them soundly.
I know another member of our "group" who is currently changing his NE346 over to PS and is going to change his MS261 over too.
The PS is just so easy to keep the saw wound up into the upper powerband.
For limbing, the cut is over before the RPM starts to drop.

That 63PS is impressive.  I'm definitely going to have to try it on my S25-CVA and PP295.  I have an 18" 3/8-LP bar for the 295.  Will get a 3/8-LP spur sprocket to try 63PS.  Would be nice if they made 3/8-LP rims for small 7-spline drums.

I do have a rim drive drum setup (3/8-LP) for an XXV series Poulan.  The rims are a goofy 9-spline setup.  I can only find 3/8-LP and 1/4" pitch rims for that drum.  Been wanting to try .325 on one of my S25's (for the heck of it)....

I've ran 3/8LP chain on 3/8 7T sprockets and 3/8 bars before.

Mike what are you using for your 346 3/8LP set up?

I was told that they don't make 3/8 low pro rim sprockets because the diameter would be too small. Maybe if they went up to more teeth per sprocket, but that would have other implications.

How well did that 3/8LP run on the 'regular' 3/8" pitch rim?  I might just get a rim-drive drum (which comes with a .325-7 rim) for the PP295.  Will then pick up a small spline 3/8-7 rim for it and give it a whirl with the 63PS on the 3/8LP bar that I have.  At the least, if I decide to go back to .325 on that saw I'll have a rim drive setup (which I greatly prefer over spurs).

I think I've read that too.  The nine spline 3/8LP rim that have for that Poulan XXV rim-drive drum is six pin.  The tiny nine spline drum shank is what allows that configuration (3/8LP-6) to work I guess.

There was a long thread on A.S. about running low pro chain on regular 3/8" rims. It was not positive.

I suppose that if a guy was a really good welder, and had something like a lathe to center things, he could cut the spur off of one sprocket and weld it on the right clutch cup?  Have to match the sprocket bearing too.

Seems like a lot of work, but it's a long winter ahead . . .

I only did for short periods of time Aaron for testing and fun to just see. Not long enough to see any wear patterns etc. Lets just say it worked fine on a 60cc poulan for giggles.  ;)

There is only one 3/8ths rim.
Both the standard and lo pro run equally well on it.
The nose sprocket in the bar however is another story.

Kevin,

I am running a 16" bar from a 338XP to get the right mount and the right nose sprocket. That is the first one I found that had an 095 mount and runs lo pro.
The rim is a standard Oregon 3/8ths in 7 pin. I intend to try an 8 on it later but just haven't done it yet.
