PS3 57DL made up today and made 2 test cuts on a poulan 1950.  Amazing the difference just that chain makes on those saws.

I set up the new 540xpt with a loop of PS3. We'll see how it goes.
The Husky 3/8's LP chain can just stay in the plastic bag.

Wonder if there is any chance of running PS3 on my Jonsered 2260 :o

Wow, helluva thread! :o More informed than ever. More confused to. :D Lot of numbers flying around but it's made me realize my ignorance. Up until now I've just trusted to my dealer. I've always noticed my 200T cuts twice as fast as my 024s with much less work on the saw. I know the 200T is Topdawg of the 2 and the Sihl Picco I use on it makes a huge difference. I'll have to look when I go home to see if the Picco is square or round.

This thread has opened my eyes to using this Picco on my 024s, maybe 026 and 028s as well? I'm cutting on the ground with my saws but keep my tips out of the dirt except for the occasional oops.

When considering the power of a saw, at what point does this Picco chain lose its advantage?

I have a VERY strong OE346 set up with the 63PS and it cuts better than it did with a REALLY good .325.

There is a 3.0 Poulan that is going to be next for the transformation. I use it almost exclusively now as my small firewood saw and the changeover should be no problem because it already uses a KO41 bar which is readily available in 3/8ths LP.
All I need to do is change the sprocket over so I can run a standard 3/8ths rim for the LP.

Thanks Mike! Glad to hear from you on this since we both cut hedge. I'm sure hoping I can switch my 024s over to 3/8 pitch to try some of this new chain.

I'm still unclear on this: Is any 7 tooth rim sprocket going to work or does it have to be Picco/lo-pro?

Here's a good demo video from Stihl Canada from last winter of the Stihl MS241 C-M with Picco 63 PS combo.
They seem to be doing a good job promoting their product.

Making a living with a saw since age 16.

I see a lot of threads where guys want to run standard 3/8 chain on an MS260 type saw, 'casue they think that it will cut faster with larger cutters, or that it is 'real' chain.  Fun to see them switch from .325 to 3/8 low-pro!

I believe that each saw has a sweet spot with the right bar/chain/sprocket combination.
