Tool post grinder on a lathe would work well. Carbide inserts don't like the case hardening of these "super hard" rims. Lol

I've cut down the OD of 8 pin .404 sprockets to make a lopro 8 pin standard spline before. Carbide doesn't like cutting them, but it will. I suppose shooting the holes for the splines was probably the worst on tooling.

Yes it was. Carbide end mill didn't care for it much.

Would some type of abrasive method work better than hard tooling on the rim sprockets?

Would a ceramic cutter insert work on an interrupted cut or are they too brittle?

Don't  laugh...here's  my red neck thinking. Slide the power head on your work bench with no b/c at 1/2 throttle with the face of the rim contacting the face of a rotating bench grinder  wheel.
The grinder wheel and rim sprocket should be rotating into each other.
Periodically check rim diameter  :D

That would work on the o.d. but not the I.D. to increase hub size

No I was referring to turning down a .404 8T rim to the diameter of a P8 rim.
The .404 and Picco are a close fit. ;)

I used to run alot of big Danzco pin rims years ago racing.  What I am wondering if a 6T to use with 3/8LP picco for smaller saws could be made in small or if it would interfere with the spline. By Danzco.

I'm as guilty as one former member on here for not getting projects done haha.
See no reason for a 6 pin Picco Danzco rim being made for a small 7 spline. Probably never made because not enough call for it.
You could remove a 6T spur sprocket from its drum, enlarge the bore big enough and silver solder it onto a small spline drum.
Should work just fine as the Husky outboard clutched connection to the oil pump worm gear would still work fine.
