The old mac 101b race saw......36" roller nose bar, 12 tooth 3/8's sprocket......and one of the new 250 Honda's I'm building. 13tooth 1/2" or 16tooth 404 for cold start cutting 18"to 20" wood.

Actually I've  got a couple of Mac roller nose bars myself . A 24" on a Super 44A ,a 36" which fits a 10 series or Husky plus a cut down 36" to about 16" which will fit a Stihl 084,Mac 125 or large mount Husky depending on which one I want to use it on . Takes spacers for the Mac or  Husky of course .

The 36's where west coasters and I assume if used on a Mac probabley on an 850 size because that would be the only thing in that Mac mount size with enough azz to pull them .

BTW I don't droll --I have a bib  :P

Nothing against the Mac hotsaw. But that 250 bikesaw looks sweeeeeeet  ;D. Sleek and well thought out.

Well done Dennis.

P.S. Hey by the way you going to do any FREE Christmas giving woods port jobs for free advertisement by newbie owners for purpose to get that newbie $$$ rolling in?  ;)

I found a pic of a 10 series Mac roller nose I had cut down .The bar came from the PNW and most likely from when larger 10 series Macs were used as fellers ,probabley late 70's maybe early 80's .

It's a 63 thou bar so 63 thou square ground 3/8" is what it got .It would probabley do okay with  a nine pin ,possibley 10,shown with an 8 .

Stock 084 and 6 flat on three which is no record but considering who's running it not all that bad . ;D I've been coached  by experts who have watched  my  methods that I fail to lean on them hard enough .

Not the style used for hotsaw  :o. But this old thing came in a trade awhile back.  Just posting here as it is one of the many roller nose tip bars out there.

That's a Remington bar.  Has the 'swiss cheese' mount pattern for use on many different saws of the 1960's and 1970's.  I run RN's on some of my old GTG/fun saws.

I was about to 'bump' this thread and you guys jump in and post ahead of me!

I have tried to pick up a few roller noses just for 'show and tell'.  Plus, I think that they are a cool part of chainsaw history.

I have heard that their weak point was breaking off easier than the current sprocket nose bars.  Can anyone explain why racers and hot saw guys like them better than sprocket noses?

Thanks.

Philbert
