Thanks!
Thanks, you probably  did yours  the same way as mine. ....angle grinder disc to cut the end of the sprocket  nose  tip off, then use a bench grinder to make the contour  to fit the roller nose.

I assumed you needed a milling machine to do something like this. Very creative.

No milling machine  needed. 4 1/2" angle grinder with cut off disc and a bench mount grinder to form the contour joint on the sprocket nose.

Quote from: Philbert
"I have heard that their weak point was breaking off easier than the current sprocket nose bars."

Another comment on weaknesses of roller nose tips from Mark Heimann on A.S.: "The real problem with a roller nose was (is) the gap where the bar and nose come together, very easy to get chips, sticks, etc. caught in there when the nose was buried in logs or brush. "

I have never used one, but that sounds plausible.  I know that I have seized up some sprocket nose tips as well with stringy stuff.

That was the complaint I heard too from older loggers sticks get caught in the roller's nose joint and derail chains.
Sandvik and Windsor invented the first sprocket noses around 1971. Oregon in 1975.
Sandvik successfully  sued Windsor in the late 80's for a lawsuit who invented  the sprocket nose first.
Then Sandvik bought out Windsor, only to drop them later on.

Looks good Kevin.
All I'm  using at the moment  is my phone as my laptop  bit the dust. The other night I spilled a whole mug of cold beverage  on it. :-\
Just in the process of trying to retreive all my files to a new laptop.

No milling machine  needed.

I was thinking about milling a groove for mounting the roller tip in a solid bar. Did not think of using the space for a nose sprocket. Clever!

Using the Oregon tip makes it easy.  First one it did I used the rivets and the other I welded the holes (rosette)

I have a roller nose bar that I am wanting to put on a blanchard grinder to dress it up a little. The steel rivets are not driving out easy.

Are the rivets reusable and are they normally hard to drive out?
