all we used in tool and die work was nickolson lots of nickolsons  till people went on disability with carpel tunnel.   if you ever make a electrolysis deruster run all your old files through it. it blows all particles out. low power would work fine 1 amp or so.

I have heard that nicholsons are not what they use to be.

most of the time our files work in oil sap rosin and dirt. electrolysis removes all that and even rust. a perfectly clean file often cuts like  a new file. none of us will agree on which file is best but we can agree a clean file cuts best. I think I got that out out so it makes sense  ;D

i heard some where white vinegar will clean them. i ain't tried it. i buy save edge by the dozen........how ever bevel files are spendy, could be worth it? looks to me [with glasses] when a bevel file stops cutting well, the edges are flattened out.

it can't raise the dead but sure helps the cruddy  ;D  I use red devil lye not washing soda . have it all hooked up and running stir in a spoonfull at at time until ammeter  on battery comes up to 2 amps.  to much lye will overload your charger and burn it up.  people are afraid of lye but this solution is weak  http://www.wwgoa.com/article/removing-rust-with-electrolysis/
