Scabbards bar covers who has them
« on: February 12, 2014, 07:02:38 am »
Was thinking it is time to get a couple new scabbards. And I forget where I had seen them....maybe Green Valley?
Has anyone used one of these soft sided scabbard/tool holding type devices?
A source for them would be awesome too?

Looking for something other then the plastic things. And my custom scabbards keep coming up missing.(Made a few out of some EasternRedCedar on the sawmill-then just made a simple plunge cut into the thick slab). Guess I made them too nice, went to town and some one unbolted them for the truck bed rail!

I think Buckingham still make a leather chainsaw bar scabbard.

Those leather one's look a might bit pricey....and maybe they are, I didn't see a price anywhere while looking around. And the scabbards I was wanting to get would be for my longer bars(32"+ size)...

The firehose idea might have some traction here, I don't think I'd be able to stitch them. But maybe a simple wrap with a drawstring or the like would be enough to keep them from getting bumped, dinged, or whatever?
I will look for some old hose today out in the yard at work.

Thanks for the ideas!

Same Green Valley Products Chainsaw Bar Scabbards cheaper then baileys at  Type One Products .  http://www.typeoneproducts.com/products/green-valley-products---chain-saw-bar-cover.html

Type one also goes up to 42" not just 36" like baileys.

I know a guy around here who uses it on most of his saws: especially the longer bars - hard to find scabbards that fit those.

He cuts the ends off square and 'sews' one closed with wire (like a spiral notebook).

You can use copper rivets from the hardware store

JMO it seems the old fire hose route would be the way to go.

Now wondering how big across is a fire hose when laid flat.
