Square filing files ?
« on: December 24, 2013, 10:15:35 pm »
I have been wanting to try square filing and I ordered a double bevel save edge file and it turns out I like the results but I do not like the cost to get a file. Shipping cost is high to get a file to canada. To me its really not worth paying $25 shipping on a $10 item. Before I ordered the file I shopped around here at some local saw shops and hardware stores and they all looked at me funny when I asked for that file I even showed them a picture but nobody seen or heard tell of it before.

So what other files can be used or is there different names of the file I used? I went to 1 store and they had a book with many files that they could order in at a good price but I didnt see the double bevel file.

You should have ask here 1st IMO. I have about 3-6 different brands left over and 2 different styles.  Shipping would have been way cheaper.

WhoTH charged you $25 shipping for 1 square file?    :o >:(

I looked all over online to find 1 of them files and on ebay the cost was going to be a little  higher so I went with baileys. I'd love to know of a Canadian website to order from. Also I see on one of them pages you posted different types of files im going to show that to the guy at the local saw shop and see if he can help me out. Is it normal that I cant find these types of files in my area?

We have to order them in North Central Ohio also.

This company seemed a little more reasonable for Canada?  It might help to order more than one at a time?

My experience, if you are converting a round filed chisel chain, it will eat up one bevel file to square up each chain. To maintain a already square chain, the files last much longer.

Ok if im looking at this right I think I can get 3 files for $1 more then I just paid for 1. Total:$36.75
I'm not real familiar with ebay a friend is coming here later and I will get him to see if that the correct price

If so lesson learned for me I'm new to this online buying and I shopped around online and local and I could not find them files, My next purchase the 1st stop im making is here lol.
