Uneven Chain Sharpening

I have a Tecomec chain sharpener that my dad gave me. The angle is fixed at 60 degrees and then I can swivel the chain vise to adjust for which side I am sharpening.

I noticed that if I adjust it for one side to just sharpen the cutters, it is either not touching the cutters facing the other way, or wanting to take too much off, when I swivel it for the other side. It doesn't want to make the cutters consistent length from side to side.

Any ideas on what is off?

The chain cutter is not centered under the wheel. You need to move the chain position in or out?

My USG base slides and turns. I dont know your grinder to say. Sorry.

With my Tecomec grinder, there is an adjustment screw on the back side of the vice jaws (right in the center) that centers the chain to be the same left and right.

All the Oregons are made by Tecomec

My Oregon 511A has a Tecomec vice. The new vice is not any different than the original Oregon vice except the main hold down threads are not stripped. The new vice seemed to be perfectly centered right out of the box.

 I was wondering if that adjustment screw had anything to do with it, I will adjust it and see how that works.
