self climbing tree pruner
« on: October 04, 2014, 11:35:23 am »
backround.... never saw or knew of these.

was told: they were used in managed growing forests.  would self climb to a desired height, which was set by a dial wheel.  trim branches to promote a taller/higher canopy tree.

these were/are now replaced by very high priced computer type climbing pruners.

not mine, the kid is though.

have not seen it in use.  was told that it was primarily used on conifers.  to grow longer "board wood".  believe it was branded sachs?  (not 100% sure on that).

the distance away from the bar to the trunk of the tree could also be adjusted.

if i could get a hold of Tom, and invite him here, you would get much better answers.

Amazing!  Have never seen one.  Looked at the vids and it seemed like the one example was radio controlled?

It has a settable dial for height.

I don't know if it is time based or counts turns?
