I took a couple of pics today of the MS 460.  I got the muff mod finished up and saw tuned.
I ran it in some wood today as you can there in the picture.  Ash

All I can say Adam is that it was worth every penny.  Very nice running saw.

If you dont mind, I aim to copy your awesome looking idea, except weld up the clutch side opening and make the same exits out the flywheel side for stumping

Are those 1/2" copper elbows

That is half inch EMT that I bent to 90* and then cut the mate side of the pipe open a quarter of an inch and then welded the two together with a Tig and then used my flex shaft and a round burr to smooth it out.   I have done them with the pipe side by side and also with one on top of the other.   It just depends on the muffler and now much room there is for the welding.

On the 460 with the pipe being side by side I left all the internal places of the muffler for the spark arrester to still slide in place.
What did you use to cut the 1/4" .......... cutoff wheel ?
Appreciate the details ......... it certainly was not a fast job to do, and it looks perfect !

Hey Mopar post a pic when you get it done.
I certainly will Sir. Just waiting on the extra muffler, then I should have some time for playing after Thanksgiving to get to it.

PP365  on #1 bench. Came back with weird idling issue.  Gave the new owner the 3500 even exchange.  Going to swap a carb to see if I am guessing right.  Was no issue when used last on the hills cutting pines.  Been setting since.

6700  on #3   bench taking down to do the carb swap back. Pulling 8000 carb and went through 6700 carb to go back in. Kit in 6700 looked great. Just needed cleaning.

365 seemed to be carb issue  (swapped carb) and clutch spring (swapped clutches) .  Put almost 2 tanks through it testing and tuning as I checked stuff.  20" 3/8 buried most times

Mopar I did use a cut off wheel on a hand grinder.   I buy those cheap hand grinders from Habor Freight when they are on sale.   Then I put a different wheel on each one of them so I do not have to change them.

Dewalt makes those cutoff wheels that are around .045" wide.  They make a nice thin cut in the metal.

Yes it is a time consuming project but it is strong and looks half way decent.l

It looks much better than 1/2 way decent !!

I have lots of those wheels - usually get 6 boxes every couple of months

With your picture and details, I have been churning and burning my noodle. I have an idea using your basic concept, but am working on the screen aspect.  I might need to get some thinner sheet though, I only have 10 and 12 gauge on hand

Worked on a husqvarna K960 concrete saw.   Unfortunately the main bearings are bad in it.   The saw would still run but I could wiggle the PTO side of the crank sideways to the case and it was starting to screech a little.    I pulled the plug and turned it by hand and could feel the roughness in it.   I do not think the customer will repair it.

Also worked on a echo cs670 if I remember right.   Compression was 50 psi and piston scored across the rings.   Customer wants to fix it so I will be doing a piston ring and cylinder on it.   Still cheaper than a new saw.

Those concrete saws have a hard life....

They sure do.   I get them in all the time to be worked on.   I have done Stihl, Wacker Nueson, Husqvarna, Homelite, Partner, and there was one other I cannot remember the name of right now.

AL, post a pic of that p1000 if you get a chance...
It's in the works as soon as I get all the parts.

Now the continuing saga .I rebuilt the carb and fiddled with it until I got it to run pretty well. Fact real well .I'm not sure if it's got as much as an 066 Stihl or a 2100 Husky but it's enough .

The air filter is deflocked so I half-fast it with 80 micron screen .Have a filter from a p-70 Partner on the way which I think I can make work.
Now the bar .A Mac 10 series will fit but the chain because the saw has an 8 tooth rim is a tad short .Probably work with a 7 tooth .81 drivers on a Mac 24" bar, needs one more .An 84 driver on a Mac bar is too long .Borrowed a 24" bar  from a Husky 281 which is 84 driver, works but also robbed a set of bar plates from a 2100 so it could get oil. Won't oil with the Mac plates on a Husky mount bar .
