Your welcome Cut 8) Yeah I got lots of literature alright ....just takes time to properly organize them into a library after moving recently.

Trying to get my "bikesaw resurrection thread" posted but with Christmas just around the corner it's busy busy busy.

Just finished spending the morning getting a hearing aid installed in my left ear. Holy cow what a life changer!!
Should have had one years ago.
When I was a young kid on the farm I damaged that left ear hearing significantly from shooting and running our old John Deere 2 cylinder tractors.
When I was logging I got my first hearing test at about 18. The evidence of damage in that ear was shown then.
40 years later it's still the same until this morning  ;D

Nice sand cast Holmen!
It's fun to fabricate my-original-pipe but a factory pipe usually is said to be calculated and designed more specifically for all band of spin. Now my interest is if your Yamaha cylinder-pipe unit has the Power Valve to cover the lower band of spin Holmen?

Chy, yes my cylinder has the power valve in the exhaust.
The first thing I did was lock it wide open and then polished the exhaust port like a mirror.
 Now I question the polishing as the factory port had a rough black painted coating inside the exhaust port.
There is debate on whether to Polish or leave the rough coating.
My exhaust port is oval and with the locked wide open power valve the saws throttle response to WOT is very quick from a cold start into the first cut.

I was thinking about that Rex laid back cylinder design for a few years now.  I may rebuild my Yamaha bikesaw like that design. :)

Actually great design as the new Husqvarna XP saws for example have gone with the rear laid back cylinder.
Lower center of gravity , better view of the b/c, more room for a larger muffler or exhaust header pipe with a shorter bar pad.
