That was a Mall model 7 that Larry attempted to kick start .No luck then he roped it over only to have it kick back on him and attempted to dislocate his shoulder .

Went to a small engine show in Marion, NY to help out a buddy here on CR (DeanOsaws). Cool stuff he had and got to run some of the stuff. The 2 man Disston was a 1946 DA-211 36 inch two man bar, 340cc 11HP twin. The saw was a **** cat and a blast to run, governed to 4K RPMs. We cut some off a dry piece of locust and the saw just chugged right through it. Learned that it was the bar-end guy's job to run the oiler which is a constant flow mechanical affair using a spring activated plunger.

Sorry no pics (I only have a 'dumb' phone) but a great experience, thanks Dean! I'll be back next year!
Well after talking to Dean for more info, that saw was a joint effort between Disston and Mercury Marine so it probably is some adaptation of a outboard engine. I understand that there was also a 12HP version.
Hey Tim,   Thanks for coming over to the show...  I was a great time!

The saw is a 1946 Henry Disston KB7-AY with 11 HP by Mercury... Not much info about displacement on these, but I found it listed as a 325cc engine and have verified that on another saw.  Here is a pic:

Great saw.  They're 245cc though.  If that saw's a 1946 then it should be a KB6-AY.  I have a 1947 Disston/Mercury KB-7AY 11hp saw.  It's waiting for bench time and parts.  Will be a runner again someday.  I have 60" and 72" cut bars and a couple oiler/tailstocks for it.  Got a mess of 3/4" chain too.  Hopefully I can piece together at least one good loop for it.

Here is the big bow thing?  Me and Nat and Al and John.

That could be one of a couple different models.  If it's a 5-49 (my guess here) then it's 130cc/7.95ci.  If it's a 7-55 then it's 161cc/9.82ci.  Fuel tank's not tall enough for it to be a 99 (which is also 161cc).  I have two 7-55's plus a buncha parts.  Oughta be able to make one runner.  Have a couple transmissions and bars for thes.  Also have a 2-man post hole digger attachment for them.

There's not a nicer running two stroke than one of those Mercury Disstons. I just love the sound.

When I was a kid, I had a 1947 Evanrude 9.7 hp 4 cylinder outboard. It had a nice sound but wanted more oil than a quart in 5 gallons which is 20:1.

It wanted 16:1 which is a quart in 4 gals.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
