Great saws.......why didnt they make it?

Just wondering opinions on pioneers and why they didn't survive?  My experience with them has ben great starting with my fathers nu-17 till 94 when he broke down and bought an 029 as farm boss selling his running pioneer ......have had a few and loved their simplicity workability and ease of maintnance.........
