If you have the broken trimmer, slide the tube out of the power head and lets see what you got in the way of a broken shaft?

It is likely broken at the very end where it goes into the clutch bell? The shaft will just slide out of the tube. It should be square on each end but yours will be broken.

Lets see if it is wound wire or solid?
