It is pretty old and dated 1999. He said he bought it new 12 years ago.  He said never had to do anything to it.

cold rolled? low grade stainless?
i'd try and get it welded. somebody good with a tig could get a good bead on that. chuck it in a lathe to keep it true. looks like there's enough room in there for a little reinforcement weld also.
when I grow up, i wanna be an adult.

This should work fine as long as you post heat it after the weld to normalize your work.

Found a shaft and installed today.  Being I received the  throttle in pieces and already apart. The throttle assembly is winning.

Had to come in for  a IPL look see.

I pulled the screen and seen that eraser size hole in muffler. Had to carb retune to mix anyway. No MM for now.

I have not MM'd any of my Echo weed whackers but the two Stihl ones have the screen removed.

i opened the slot in my echo 260's muffler from 1/8" to almost double that wide. left the length that same. nothing internal, and the cat is still there, but after it was tuned it really does have more low end. it gets the head spinning alot faster when in the thick deep grass/weeds. it keeps the .105" line stretched out :)
