John Deere L118 20hp 42"
« on: August 31, 2014, 08:22:47 pm »
JD L118 20hp 42" rider.  Any info good bad etc?   Guy I am buying the plow truck from is clearing out his lawn business stuff too.  The rider looks like new. He said he used the scag mostly and the JD was just a back up.

Ideas on cost new, worth used in like new condition? Years built?

I need it like another chainsaw. Not. Have 4 riders now and 3 for mowing 1 for tilling. Down to only 2 operators now too. But sometimes a good deal just falls in your lap.
I hope he says he wants to hold onto it when we are there to pick the plow and truck up.

I have a 20hp 42" vertical shaft AHP mower for 7 yrs.  I put new belts on it last year. New blades this year. 2 yrs ago I put tubes in the front tires. It has a B&S OHV Intek Engine which are known to chew push rods but I've not had any trouble.

Shared by MasterMech = 2004-2005, with mechanical twins produced under various model numbers to this day.

For a mint condition example with less than 100 hours on it, $1200 would be top dollar. Down rate it from there. Make 100% sure the trans is good. Should provide decent torque even when fully warmed up. A K46 trans on its last legs will run good cold but lose power as the oil inside heats up. (10-15min)
