OLYMPYK 241
« on: December 05, 2013, 07:43:29 pm »
Trying to find info on how these are made IPL etc.  Guy had one with him today that was bought new in his family.  Trying to start it, noticed oil going on the floor.  Then he noticed it was coming out of the muffler.  Checked and it is gas mix in the fuel tank and bar oil in the oil tank. So somewhere she is sucking bar oil into the crankcase is my guess.

Look @ this IPL.  Doesn't show 241 but may be close enough.  234/244 pg. 11  http://www.efcopower.com/sites/default/files/233_IPL.pdf

Thanks Shep.  That clears up what is going on.    8)

I told him just take it back and put on the shelf and I would give him a lighter poulan 1800 with 12" for trim use.  Figures in the storm colder weather passing through it wouldnt run right  :-\ since being tuned in warm months last used.
So I told him I would let him know when to pick the 1800 up.  Didnt want it to be one of those PULL-on's everyone gives the name to them.

So apparently it has a gasket between the 2 tanks? I messed with it some. I got it to pop off but the rewind is shot. I found new crank, crankcase, piston, rewind and basically everything on ebay. I havent pulled the trigger on any of it tho.

I love my 241. 1st saw I ever ran. I was knee high to a grasshopper. I almost cut my thumb off with it. I was 11 or 12 yrs old luckily I had thick leather gloves on. My dad has a 264 he still uses. My uncle had a 284 I believe. I watched a running 264 go for $37 the other day.

I remember going to use the 284f when I was younger. My uncle said it needed rings and it was headed to the scrap pile. He said it was too old to get parts for. I wish I woulda known then what I know now.
