Remington PL and SL starters
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:38:27 pm »
My Uncle has a John Deere model 18 which on chainsaw collector is said to be a Remington PL 4.  The starter on the John Deere needs a recoil cup and pawls.  My question is, are the PL and SL recoil starters the same?  From looking at pictures they might be but I have no way to know for sure.

Thanks

Yup, SL/PL-4, PL-5, SL-11, SL/PL-55 starters are all the same.

Best suprise I've had is a Wards 4.0 starter on what was actually a Wards 5.0.  Remington SL-55.  82cc of snort.

Not quite.  Smaller bore on the PL/SL-4, 59cc.  PL-5 & SL-11 is 65cc.

Same starters on all of them till you get to the 94cc Devils.
