More speculation .If that saw  was in fact copied from a Homelite or Lombard the Homey was about 3.5  cu in or something and the  Lombard  is 4.2 cu in .They both used a rather small starter drum and thus as the size increased with more cubic inchs it would natureally become harder to turn over .

On the later Lombards they installed a decomp and they also used the same pressuized tank auto oiling option as is indicated on Mikes site as  this Remington uses .In  addition it's reed valve plus the timing advance is 30 degrees exactly like the Lombard .
