I think the article is very interesting.  There is a tremendous amount of chainsaw/logging history with IEL and Pioneer.  I wonder if Mike Acres would comment on this?

Hi all.

The article offers a few questions -

1) Why is the image in article saw almost identical to Stihl BD    http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/089377e0e985901188256ba2000aeece?OpenDocument

2) Where is the at least number of U.S. patent Mr. James Shand

3) What date is the first Canadian patent chainsaw

4) Was Mr. A. Stihl really that big a plagiarist that started as a seller chainsaws Rinco and then copied the first Canadian / World saw

http://journals.hil.unb.ca/index.php/MCR/article/view/16942/23057 Here is the probable basis of this article and the actual figure Shands saw.  ;)

Final note - A. Stihl is not my favorite as pruducent first chainsaw
A.Stihl is not at all my favorite!
I am afflicted with the disease CSCD - love the old machines - thank god is incurable
