Fire Dept fundraiser race
« on: September 07, 2013, 05:12:50 pm »
We had a saw comp as part of a fundraiser day for the local fire dept. We also had kids games, dunking booth, bike auction, bbq, etc. We cleared $4200 in 6 hours.

Had a good turnout for the race. A Provincial election was called here today and we even had the PC candidate start the first class. He finished last, hope he does better in the election.

Saws ranged from stock to pipe. Names were drawn out of a hat for the prizes. I will put up some pics later. Here were the fastest saws in their classes.

0-50   Stihl 261
0-60   Jon 2159
0-70   Husky 365
Over 70  Husky 365
Pipe Jon 930

$4200 in 6 hours, that's awesome.

we have a breakfast once a month at a church hall, and its packed from 8 am til 11 and when they clear a grand they get excited.

The PC's are gaining ground around here also

We were more than pleased with the result. Donations made it all possible. Local businesses stepped up in a big way. Big thanks goes out to the volunteers.

When turnout gear cost $3000 per man, Scot air packs not included, every $ extra is a huge help.

I cant say right now on air packs as we are in the process of getting quotes for new ones. I will know after next meeting. We need to replace 12 units.

I was just fitted for new turn out gear rand it was $3000.
Takes 30 suits to cover all the men. They need to be re-certified every 2 years.
