Dear Contestant:

We wish to extend you an opportunity to compete at the Fifty First Annual Webster County

Woodchopping Festival. This year’s competition is scheduled for Friday May 27th, Saturday

May 28th, and Sunday May 29th. We would like to thank those that have previously attended

and welcome those interested in competing during 2016.

 

We are once again expanded our competition days to Friday in order to lessen the work on our

weekend volunteers. As you should be aware, Saturday at the WCWF has become a very long

day for everyone. To that end, we are commencing competition on Friday at 1 p.m. for the

following events – Underhand Handicap, Standing Block Handicap and Master’s Standing

Block. We will also be running the 3 cube stock saw, 5 cube stock saw, and the Elimination Hot Saw during Friday’s events.

 

In addition, the athletes who attend on Friday can go ahead and eliminate for the axe throw. We

will also have two to three heats of springboard on Friday – but those competitors will be limited

to the athletes that are competing in the Underhand Handicap, Standing Block Handicap, and

Master’s Standing Block.

 

We are expanding our Championship events (Underhand, Standing, and Springboard) to

include the top thirty axemen who register for the event. This will consist of the twelve finalists

from 2015 and the next best eighteen as determined by our show handicapping committee

(Arden Cogar Jr., Melvin Lentz, Paul Cogar, Jason Lentz and Matthew Cogar). Should you

apply for the Championship events and you are not selected for the Championship and are

moved to the Handicap events, you will be notified no later than May 6th. If you, at your own

discretion, because of not being selected for the Championship events choose not to attend the

event please notify us when we contact you and we will refund your entry fees.

 

Please complete the attached entry form and return it before April 1, 2016. Entries post marked

after this date will be denied and returned to sender. We turn the wood once we know the

number of entrants at the entry deadline and getting additional logs for late entries is not

possible. So please submit your entries as soon as you receive it.

 

We would also like to make you aware that Stihl USA has provided the prize purse to host a

U.S. Title Underhand event that will be selected from the top 12 Americans (based upon finals

and preliminary times) who will be divided into two heats of 6 and a final of 6 that will be held at

the conclusion of the event on Sunday.

 

Finally, even though it does not appear on the entry form, we will once again be hosting a 3 cube stock saw on Friday evening and the prize purse will be sweepstakes – all the entry fees will go toward paying the prize purse.

 

If you notice that we left someone off this email chain, please forward this entry on to them if they would be interested in coming to compete.  And if you can, just shoot me a quick email to let me know that you got the entry so we won’t have to  follow up with a mailing.
