272 coil onto 7910 is out of time.  If you shave the keyway and re-time it that way it can work.  The original 6400/7900 burgandy coil is also out of time on the 7910 without re-positioning the flywheel.

272 coil onto a 6400/7900 works without ruining the flywheel.

Here is the old (EC) coil timing info on a 272 coil in a 6400/7900. How this relates to a 7910, I have no clue?

There is also a .pdf file on here somewhere that relates to swapping a 272 coil winding onto the steel frame coil armature of a 6400/7900 or Solo 681. The main part to remember is that the 6400/7900 armature is too thick and must have a lamination peeled off before it will go into the coil winding.

I have this nice bigger .pdf file that includes pictures if anyone would like it, I can mail it.

I'm not worried about the shaving the key out and setting it in time. I just want to get a little more rpms from them without that limiter killing them when over the block cutting. They hit the wood at 8k instead of 13.7k or higher like the others.

I have five 7910's running on 7900 red coils with no issues. Two are stock saws with the SLR muffler and three are ported with the old style 7900 muffler.

All of these saws are in use by loggers.

Nice running saw. The red coils turn 13.3k correct?
