Guess I need to save these here too.

Race ported sachs dolmar 166 compared to a work ported 166 exhaust.

Man that exhaust port was raised quite a bit on the race saw.
-Aaron

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

Yes I know that's a MVP saw. I've worked on a 084 and 090 built by him back in 1989. Exact same style of cut off head like on your 166. I couldn't see any epoxy on the transfers  in your pic, as that's what Marcel did to the 084 and 090.
That's why I commented "the epoxied covers are missing". ;)

Have a thread here on this fix I did 6 or 7 years ago.

Only one way to stop the bar oil from ruining that $30 a gallon alky/nitro sprint nitrodine fuel = 2010 price.  Split that metal tank and sealed it back with Threebond 1194.

Great thread!  I recently picked up a 166 from a member.  One of the last Holy Grail saws on my list.  Now if I can just score a Jonsered 111!
