I thought big bores were 54mm.

52mm is stock 7900

Was thinking of boring the 6400 cylinder to 52.   curious how the 6 open transfers would flow on a race saw

If you bore a 6400 cylinder to 52mm, the open transfers will be so small that you will have terrible performance

To bore one of these cylinders will cost you $500 by the time you get it replated and finish honed

Under $300 to strip, bore re-chrome at Millenium.  I think your right about the transfer tunnels getting too small!  just did a little port wodo on a 6400 jug and noticed a lot of carbon from exhaust back flow into transfers!  Anyone else noticed this?  Seems like some more blow down is in order

Thats what I remember. Fit piston to your clearance specs too.

Never ran a 6400 let alone seen inside one, besides pics.

I have 2 6400's and can't forsee a time in the rest of my life that I don't have one.
They are GREAT saws, and drastically under-rated......IMHO.

sounds like you're at the limit of what that jug can do!
