He wanted me to ask everyone something. I have no clue what you can and can't do with dolmar. He wants to know if you can get a non KAT muffler assy mounts screws heat shields. That will work for the 5105. And is there a better carb for it? I am going to be the one rebuilding it for him so I need to know too. I guess the guy bought it from a sale barn from what my buddy said so we mite get it cheap. Find out tonight.

Thanks
Jason

When I bought my 5105, I immediately put a 5100 muffler on it. The muffler bolted right on like it was made for the 5105.

The 5100 muffler weighs a lot less and doesn't get so hot.

Well. He did not buy it. I did for 15 bucks. Needs new chain muffler air filter and what ever else.It is a easy start model. My friend is going to the Stihl dealer and buying a new MS250. And I sold him my fully adjustable carb rebuilt for one. I have a MS250 I picked off of ebay years back looked new. The carb was gummed up so I bought a new one for it and fuel line and filter. And rebuilt the old one and put it on adjusted it. So this comming weekend he is bring over the MS250 to change out carbs. He does not do much cutting mainly trimming his trees in town. So when I get time I am taking it down and see what all happened. The first thing I what to do is buy a complete 5100 muffler for before you can't find them.Just the muffler and cover for it like in the next few weeks. That way I have one. Then I can take my time on the rebuild. Do you guys think I came out ok on the deal for 15 bucks.Just needs a good cleaning and it will look nice. Muffler and cover first so i am looking for one as of some time this week.So anyone please chime in if you can get a muffler and cover for it..

Thanks
Jason

Pretty hard to go wrong for 15 bucks. ;D Now find one somebody backed over or dropped out of a tree and make one good saw out of two.

Easy Start on the Dolmar doesn't work like Easy Start on a Stihl.

It is not a deal where you jerk the cord all the way out and then then engine turns over.

You can pull the cord out slowly to the compression part and while holding significant pressure, the engine will turn over. It'll start that way.

The killer on a 5105 is the clutch side bearing will spin on you so don't be running the chain real tight.

When installing bearings, the clutch side bearing has to be glued in with Loctite.
