Dolmar 112
« on: October 31, 2013, 03:19:29 pm »
This is a saw that I have had for awhile, but never really got it out to cut some fire wood with.    So I got it out the other day and used it.    The saw started leaking fuel when set side ways and I noticed that the plug in the top of the fuel tank where the fuel line and vent come through was loose.   I pushed it back in but it did not seem to have a tight fit.   So I put a little yamabond on it and let sit for 24 hours and fixed.   Sits nice and tight no more leaking.

The saws actually cuts ok for its age.   It is not high reving and is not a big saw by any means but I like it, and it will do very well for my purposes.

They are not a high revving saw but lots of torque. I worked in an S-D shop in the eighties, rugged saws if a bit heavy and reliable. I never had to worry about come backs.

Hi Roger - Just got one of these myself.  Has had the 'spa treatment' from Mastermind.  Hopefully, I'll be able to take it out this weekend for some test runs.  Chain is loose because I'm in the process of adding a spike to the cover.

Did you find a air filter for this in the style you were looking for?

Maybe it was a different saw. One shown that I seen wanted is part number 114173020  baileys shows them for $15.99 most other sites come back NLA.

Username here 166  which owns cutting edge dolmar dealer posted about them back in 09 being in stock for $10. 4 years has past but you might PM him.

I am interested to see how the saw performs.   What does the "spa treatment incorporate" for the saw.

The old Dolmars are great chainsaws

The 112 and slightly newer 111/115 were fine 3 cube saws. Hard to beat.

My 1997 closed port 52cc 115 that was given to me as a none runner 111 open port. Was originally 8 pin .325 X 15". I installed a 115 closed port cylinder/Meteor window piston, 16" Power Match, 60DL 7pin 3/8 RSC.

Very nice and I bet that baby runs as good as it looks.

It is my goto chainsaw. I just like it for some reason? I have newer, faster, and lighter saws but this one is just likable.
