Thats a good combination of modern 5105/7900 and old 115/6800

I have never laid hands on the 5105. How does it stack up to the 115i?? I know the 116/6000 and 120/6800 are every bit as fast as the modern 6400. Just wondering if the same can be said for a 115i of 540??

And what is that additional on-off switch on that 6800?? IS that something you added, or were the 6000/6800's like that??

The situation with the 5105 is that it has a 1,000 rpm on the 115 and just as much torque. A 5105 has a catalytic converter in the muffler. These converters are heavy. I put a 5100 muffler on my 5105 to eliminate the catalytic converter. The 5100/5105 has a inboard clutch and the rims and chains are easy to change. But this makes them a little wider and heavier than a Husqvarna 346 New Edition. But they are right up there with power.

My 6800 began life as a 6000Hi. I changed the piston and cylinder to a 6800. The "H" in the nomenclature means that it has heated handles and that switch is the switch to turn the handles off-on. My 7900's do not have heated handles but the switch for heated handles on that series of chainsaw is on the right side of the rear handle just like the ignition off-on switch is on the left side of the handle. Husqvarna 365/372's are the same way with the heated handle switch.

Heated handles...duh!

Yea, cut4fun was telling me about you swapping to the 6800 top end. Do you notice much difference in it after the change?? Cause honestly, I never could tell much difference between the 116si and 120si in your average 14-15" wood. I never really timed them in the cuts, but they felt the same. And anytime I was into bigger wood, I'd grab the 6400/8400, so never really had a bar burried in 20" wood either. I dont have a 120si anymore. I gave it as well as a 116si to pops. So now he has a PS6400, (2)120si's, 116si, and a ps350. So I guess you can say it runs in the family

The 6000iH was a sweetheart of a chainsaw and all I can say is - that as a 6800, it is still a sweetheart.

In 18" wood and timed cuts you could probably tell the difference?

Mine has the original K095 mount 20" bar that appears to be a Dolmar branded Oregon Power Match bar. I've always had Stihl RS chain on it.

You will possibly come across a 116S/120s/6000/6800 that uses the D009 bar or even a Stihl bar as someone has changed the bar studs? The kit numbers for these was 010 232 010 for Stihl studs and 010 232 020 for the D009 studs to use large mount Husky bars.

My 7900's have 24" bars that are D009 mount Dolmar branded Oregon Power Match bars. I have a spare 28" Oregon Power Match bar for these.

All of mine are the original K095 mount also. But last time I bought bars for all of the 116si's, baileys had some carltons on clearance for $5 each. Nice sprocket nose bars. But a different mount. Allthough they were similar enough to use. I think the stud slot was a llittle bigger (no big deal) but the tensioner hole was too far away from the stud slot. Nothing a little burr in a die grinder didnt fix.

The Dolmar 111/115 are good saws in the woods.
